grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
i hate u
anyhow since i'm here i guess i'll put into the discussion my own opinion that said i'll have to agree with what Tyris Requiem said:
pretty much double/triple/increase the faction rewards for every win, and rest the map to saltspray regularly or either have maps change randomly, cuz i'm pretty sure nobody likes to play the same old ancestral's land that makes everybody emo and depressing. Problem solved.
Oh yeah, and saltspray dragon needs a buff ^____^

Random AB worse idea ever. During last ZQ we had nice times on Keys and Salt, so its more about rewards and map rotation, than about anything else. Charge underrated just because it doesn't rule anything, charge's just decent option, all depends on team set up and tactic. Ask any1: spamming capcapcap and avoid the mob, cap sideways rule AB.

I always loved AB almost having maxed Kz factions on AB alone 2 years ago.
For me not being required to arrange a Lx guest invite would help lots.
the fact that I also have to shortly leave my guild everytime i need to donate for optimal faction reward, is not really helping my desire to AB either.
Some faction resembling the amount earned through JQ/FA would help for me.
Map rotation would be very nice.
also this! it should reduce counter times and Lx/Kz imbalance quite a bit.

I think this would fix wait times, map rotation and faction earning. After all, we can pick whichever side in jq or fa. Why not ab? Just the 'alliance' is your randomly assigned team.

Regarding this suggestion I would prefer that people can individually choose to which faction they would like to donate. It would ease forming teams in my own alliance, bearing in mind that within my alliance, it kinda depends on what faction they require. This way I can team up with anyone I like and everyone still gets rewarded.
On a side note, a significant drawback of this suggestion is that you can not plan builds for the map, I remember I used to change my build on virtually every map. Defending ancestral/kanaai is not quite the same as attacking it...

forget randomizing or auto map changing. Just up the faction rewards and people will come. Up the faction rewards for side losing "the war" Grenz Frontier, +15% boost in faction; Ancestral Lands, +30% and likewise for the Luxon side.
Something to increase the reward and incentive.
JQ, FA, and VQing (even non-speed clear) are all more profitable than the 5-10 min wait and 50-50 chance of epic fail with your PUG in AB.
This would even fit in with the PvE storyline! Since the empire is supposed to go hostile on the luxons and kurzicks, wouldn't an increase in the fighting be part of the storyline?
There are SO many good reasons to do this.

well the trick would be to attract more people to the underdog side and thus balance out both sides.

AB Is dead because the remaining players who actually do AB refuse to play with pugs resulting in them getting annoyed and leaving forever!
Tis true.

Lies. I pug all the time. (but yeah, you have a point)
Also comparing to most any other pvp format AB is not "dead". Probably the most fun and accessible format atm.
An option to change sides without begging people for guest invites would be most welcome of course. Not holding my breath.

To get guest just go to spamadan and try trade chat. Like wtb kuku guest 2k, etc., often you will get invite in no time, and often you won't need to pay anything, because lots of ppl inviting you just out of good attitude, it's just 100g after all. No need to beg.

Im surprised nobody has mentioned this but I used to play AB on euro around 2007, some time after eotn came out what started to happen was when euro got inactive late at night the remaining players would often switch over to american, but by the morning euro would be active again.
At some point the players didnt return and we had to go to american to find a team even though it was peak time, i found this was a problem because the american server seemed to have a disadvantage from higher ping.
So by the time the faction update arrived in my experience ab was already in decline.
I agree with everybody who has said that ab is superior to JQ/FA, in those arenas the builds that are viable are quite restricted, if your only nuking /bombing the shrine npcs you might aswell go to pve. FA is slightly better then JQ imo but still not much strategy to it, i play kurzick side and its not particurly difficult to shut them down enough, the closer they get to gunther the stronger our team becomes particurly if theyre is an experienced healer or two.
